Is It Worth Buying A Crypto Domain Name?

Short Term

Speaking for myself I think it’s worth buying a crypto name like “.crypto” if you own nfts, virtual land or a business/artist that revolves around any of these areas and wanting to be social, part of a community or on Twitter.

Long term

If you’re a celebrity or brand, yes. We are moving into a new world of digitized possibilities that haven’t existed before and it’s hard to understand fully the magnitude of what impact this may have on brand identities in a few years.

My observation

Over that last year I’ve watched many celebrities onboard their brands to nfts and decentralized metaverses. Apart of this experience is owning their identity in this new realm, hence the need for a crypto domain name. With a crypto domain name people can find you on the blockchain and see what you own from virtual land, nfts, cryptocurrencies and to what charities you support.

Cyrpto Domain Trends

There is an uptrend use with .crypto domain names. This maybe because unstoppable domain names are much easier to use and more transparent with controlling and customizing their information and crypto addresses.

There is a downtrend in the use of .eth names / ENS names. The reasons why can be found on Twitter.

There is a trend for entities selecting certain blockchains like Solana.

We are still in the very early days and I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a new crypto domain service arriving to us someday in the near future.
